Time for business stars to shine with the World Confectionery Awards

Plans for our rescheduled World Confectionery Conference are moving forward with plenty of optimism for our fresh date of 26 March, 2021, in Brussels, Belgium.

During the past few months, we have been heartened by the ongoing response to our industry showcase, which has been demonstrated by our speaker programme nearing completion for what we believe will be an engaging and enlightening experience for all who are participating.

One of the key elements of the one-day conference will be the accompanying World Confectionery Awards that are set to recognise some of the many collective talents of the confectionery, snacks and bakery segments. This really is your chance to see the stars within your business shine, which will no doubt feel all the more notable after such an unexpectedly disrupted year as 2020 has so far proved. Honours being contended for include:

  • Equipment innovation, dedicated to the overall design of new equipment, or enhancement of existing lines.
  • Sustainability, celebrating efficiency achievements for equipment and systems within the confectionery and snacks sectors
  • Team of the Year – marking team-based successes within an individual company
  • Ingredients innovation – honouring specific sector breakthroughs within ingredients
  • Finished product innovation – showcasing the latest developments in finished products

So, well done to those who have already been in touch over the past few months with initial entries, but the process is still very much live, and we are continuing to welcome entries across the five categories. Clearly, there is a considerable amount of excellent work happening across the industry that deserves to be celebrated, as the sector continues to play its part in serving the broader global food and drink market.

This was ably demonstrated at this year’s ProSweets and ISM events in Cologne, Germany, which saw a number of new finished confectionery products, ingredients, systems and equipment being unveiled to a global audience. The same too can be said for the ‘virtual Interpack’ event that was staged by a fair contingent of the businesses that were due to appear at this year’s Interpack in May (now also rescheduled for the full event until next year), that did an excellent job of placing a spotlight on key packaging and processing developments that are of key relevance to our industry.

We have placed a strong emphasis on our accolades being judged independently, with each of the winners receiving their awards on the evening of the World Confectionery Conference, at the Brussels Marriott Hotel, Grand Place.

Please do take the opportunity to engage with our debut awards, which we hope will reflect some of the many intriguing and technically impressive endeavours that are making headlines within our sector.

The closing date for entries will be 10 January 2021, but participation as soon as possible would be greatly appreciated. For further details, please contact our event manager, Kyra O’Sheen, at: [email protected].
