Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil bolsters the ranks of the World Confectionery Conference

The Swiss-registered Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil global non-profit organisation has been confirmed as the latest group to join our 2025 World Confectionery Conference, writes Neill Barston.

It will be represented by Angéline Camus, the body’s government affairs manager for Europe, who will offer key insights on how affairs for this vital ingredient for the confectionery and snacks sector are being handled in relation to crucial new EUDR frameworks on environmental performance, specifically tackling deforestation.

Registration for this year’s World Confectionery Conference is now open, with this year’s event set to continue its focus on sustainability, innovation and key developments across finished products, equipment, systems and ingredients for our global sweets and snacks industries.

For her part, Angéline is an experienced European public affairs professional with a background in EU policy, stakeholder engagement, and strategic advocacy.

Starting with roles at the Council of Europe and the European Committee of the Regions, she developed a strong foundation in institutional cooperation. Working at the European Food Safety Authority deepened her experience in stakeholder relations and strategic partnerships, especially in food policy. She later joined a Public Affairs Consultancy, advising clients on regulatory strategy and navigating the complexities of EU decision-making.

She currently serves as Government Affairs Manager (Europe) at the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), where she leads the organisation’s engagement with European institutions to shape policies that support sustainable palm oil.

Angéline will be joining a diverse line-up for this year’s World Confectionery Conference, including keynotes from Ferrero, Luker Chocolate, Mintel and Caobisco European confectionery association, alongside a dynamic range of speakers throughout the day.

Confectionery Production editor Neill Barston said: “We welcome the RSPO on board to our event for what will prove some dynamic discussion and evaluation of major EUDR legislation impacting not just the palm oil sector, but many other core ingredients including cocoa supply chains.

“With this landmark legislation already having been put back by a year and due to come into force at the end of 2025, there is much at stake for the industry, so this session will be of particular significance for our event in Brussels this September.”
