Touring the globe

Bell Publishing is launching a new can making show for 2019. Alex Fordham finds out the latest from publisher Neil McRitchie.

What is CanTech – The Grand Tour?

After running successful trade events for many years, we feel our tried and tested format should not just be confined to Europe and Asia. Suppliers and can makers find the all-inclusive conference, dinners and networking opportunities a useful and cost-effective option for meeting customers, both new and existing, in a professional and personal setting. By taking our shows all over the world it provides a great opportunity to export our highly successful show format to other customers, and provide existing customers with new opportunities.

When will it take place?

25 – 27 March 2019.

What are the reasons for the location of the show?

Turkey is a growth area for the industry which is centrally situated to attract a wider audience, and due to enquiries from customers in the region, we feel the time is right to launch our show here.

Is this replacing Euro CanTech?

Not at all! Euro CanTech will be back, but as a business we feel the time is right to bring an event that covers a wider global reach. There has been criticism of too many shows within the industry, so this isn’t an additional event to everyone’s calendar.

How will the show be structured?

The conference is structured as an all-inclusive event that runs over three days. Registration takes place during the afternoon of the first day, along with the Tabletop Exhibition and networking with complimentary refreshments.

Keynote speeches and technical presentations run on Days Two and Three. The Exhibition Hall is open on all three afternoons, offering suppliers the opportunity to display products and distribute technical information to can makers and fillers. The evening of Day Two is the Awards Gala Dinner featuring fine food and entertainment.

Will Asia CanTech still be running as normal?

Asia CanTech will be taking place as normal from 29-31 October in Bangkok, Thailand. As the principle technical conference and exhibition for can makers and fillers in the Asia-Pacific Region and their suppliers, our yearly show will remain on the trade show schedule.

The decision was made to keep Asia CanTech in Bangkok as it always proves to be a successful show and we’re back there due to popular demand.

Are there any other new developments at Bell Publishing?

After publishing a new magazine, Tea & Coffee Trade Journal, last year, we’ve enjoyed hosting the Tea & Coffee World Cup. Tea & Coffee World Cup brings together the entirety of the industry’s supply chain – from bean and leaf to cup. This show now incorporates cocoa, is a three-day industrial equipment and supplies trade show. The event features working machinery on the exhibition floor, both raw and finished product for sampling and stocks of industrial supplies for detailed inspection. This show now moves to Birmingham, NEC, UK, on 3-5 September 2018.
